The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life as an Experiment

A.J. Jacobs says that he tries to understand the world by immersing himself in extraordinary circumstances. He previously read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica in an effort to become the world's most knowledgeable man, and spent a year living by every rule in the Bible. In "The Guinea Pig Diaries", Jacobs continues with month-long experiments in immersion journalism. He outsourced his life to a team of people in Bangalore, India and had them do everything from answer his emails to argue with his wife for him (he called it the best month of his life). He also spent a month practicing total honesty and speaking whatever was on his mind (he called it the worst month of his life). A.J. Jacobs talks with Larry Mantle about his experiences as a human guinea pig.

Guest:

A.J. Jacobs, author of "The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life as an Experiment"(Simon & Schuster). Jacobs is the editor at large at Esquire magazine.
