i have noticed several references to leonard cohen in altman's films like the long goodbye and mccabe & mrs. miller. did you interview him for the book?

Larry, you have to bring up the L.A. Times review (10/22) by Richard Schickel. The heading was something like "Don't read any further if you like Robert Altman." They were not kidding. The critique of Altman was withering!

Never mind. Just read Patrick Goldstein's response today to the original book review. I wonder why they hired someone who had such obvious animosity toward Altman to write that review.
