Senate health care bill revealed
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) (R) hugs Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) after Senate Democrats unveiled their healthcare proposal while caucusing at the U.S. Capitol November 18, 2009 in Washington DC.
Senate Dems unveiled their health care reform package late last night. The bill would insure 31 million people, or about 94% of Americans, excluding undocumented immigrants. The cost? $848 billion over 10 years. And projected savings? $130 billion over the same period, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. How does the Senate bill stack up against the House proposal? What adjustments will be made to win the approval of conservative Democrats? And when will a joint bill reach Obama's desk?
