Politics is dirty business—that’s a given. But what’s going on with the California gubernatorial race? Republican candidate Steve Poizner is accusing his primary opponent, Meg Whitman, of resorting to threats in an attempt to force him from the race. Poizner says Whitman’s campaign advisers have repeatedly called and e-mailed his staff urging him to drop out of the Republican primary. Is Poizner being too sensitive, or has Whitman crossed a line?

Whitman is the worst example of Big Money tossing its around to decide the political field. Even if she succeeds in washing away Steve through Big Money Trash Talk, who would want such a person as governor?

okay, we get it, Mr. Poizner, sounds like you both have oodles of money to spend, this is a tempest in a tea pot, to call her out...Larry got it right when he said you were making much ado about nothing.

Larry. I am not a Republican but I have to side with Mr. Poizner on this issue. Some might think this is a desperate tactic on Mr. Poizner’s part but he sounds sincere to me and I have to admire him for sticking up for principals and for competitive politics in this case. I think it shows the seamy/sleazy side of these political hacks who are virtually destroying our political process and who are bankrolled by millionaires trying to buy our elections.

The more I hear about Whitman the less I like her. On most of the issues she sounds just like any other Republican--or even like Schwarzenegger, and we all know how that's working for us.

Steve, you're a big baby. You're going to lose. You should have done what John & Ken suggested--put up some money for a part time legislation.
