US House Speaker John Boehner, R-OH, speaks during a press conference at the US Capitol in Washington, DC on October 10, 2013.
In a press conference this morning House Speaker John Boehner unveiled a proposal for a six-week extension of the debt limit. The White House, in a statement, said congress needs to pass a clean debt-limit increase and funding bill to reopen the government. The conditions of the proposal are still unclear.
What does this mean for shuttered government agencies? Is Boehner’s proposal a step in the right direction? And if this proposal is accepted, does this mean we’ll see a similar fight in six- weeks?
