Tropical Storm Isaac has put a damper on the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. Forecasters expect the storm to reach hurricane strength and make landfall on the Gulf coast as soon as Tuesday.
Those weather concerns cut short the opening session of the convention Monday. Party officials planned to bang the gavel to kick things off, then clear out until Tuesday.
KPCC's Frank Stoltze joins the show from Tampa, where he is reporting on the convention. On Monday morning he attended a breakfast for the California delegation, where New Jersey Governor Chris Christie spoke. Christie will be the keynote speaker at the convention later this week.
