The presidential election is still eight weeks away, but already some reporters are feeling campaign fatigue. That includes New York Times reporter Mark Leibovich, who recently asked in a magazine piece, "How am I ever going to get through it?"

Same goes for NBC politcal correspondent Chuck Todd, who told Politico: "Until the candidates restore joy, it's impossible for us to be joyful."

Why are reporters so down on this election cycle, and how does that affect the coverage we get?

Dylan Byers, a reporter for Politico, recently wrote about the highly-infectious case of political weariness that seems to have contaminated the media pool.
