Thousands of Chicago students stay home as teachers walk picket lines

Chicago teachers go on strike on Monday Sept. 10, 2012.

In Chicago Sunday night, negotiations between the teachers union and school officials broke down. On Monday morning, 350,000 school children stayed home as their teachers walked picket lines.

It's not just a local Chicago story. The president is from Chicago, as is the nation's top education official - Arne Duncan. And Mayor Rahm Emmanuel was White House Chief of Staff.
