New Music Tuesday: Kanye, Raekwon, Amerigo Gazaway and Carly Rae Jepsen
For New Music Tuesday, Oliver Wang, who runs the site Soul-Sides.com, joins the show. On tap this week is new music from Carly Rae Jepsen, Kanye West, a mashup of A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde, and a Raekwon rerelease that's making it's way out on cassette.
Carly Rae Jepsen - Kiss
After becoming a huge hit over the summer with "Call Me Maybe," Jepsen releases her first big album, "Kiss." All of the songs sound similar to "Call Me Maybe," so if you're into that, this album may be for you.
G.O.O.D Music - Cruel Summer
Kanye West's G.O.O.D (Getting Out Our Dreams) music label, releases their first collaborative album, with label artists like West, Pusha T, Big Sean, 2-Chainz and others all working together.
Amerigo Gazaway of Gummy Soul - Bizarre Tribe: A Quest to the Pharcyde
For those who pine for rap circa late 80's and early 90's, Amerigo Gazaway has released a mashup of old A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde's music.
Here's the full album:
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx aka "The Purple Tape" (rerelease on cassette tape)
Yes, you've been alive too long. Cassette tapes are now considered retro and "old" classics like "The Purple Tape" are being rereleased as special editions.
You can hear the entire album here.
