Today, a federal judge here in Riverside could rule to lift the ban on gay men and women serving openly in the military. But last night, the Department of Justice filed a brief urging her not to because it could compromise military readiness.

A ruling in another case challenging Don't Ask Don't Tell is expected today in Washington State. Joining Madeleine to sort out the legal challenges of the ban is Doug NeJaime, Associate Professor at Loyola Law School.
