Monkey Business: New Writing from Japan
Regular Pacific Rim Diary contributor, Roland Kelts, is back with two colleagues, Motoyuki Shibata and Hideo Furukawa. They're in to discuss the release of the new literary journal, Monkey Business: New Writing from Japan, which showcases contemporary Japanese writing.
Furukawa is a novelist in Japan and a contributor to the journal. Shibata teaches American literature at the University of Tokyo and translates for Furukawa. Kelts is also the author of a book on manga and anime called Japanamerica.
In the interview, Madeleine talks to Furukawa, who has friends and family living within the suggested evacuation zone near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
