The man who brought down the Cali drug cartel
The Cali drug Cartel was for a time the world's richest and most powerful crime syndicate. In the 1980s and 90s, it raked in billions of dollars a year from cocaine and bribed so many government officials, it was effectively running Colombia. The Cali Cartel was eventually brought down about 10 years ago when the brothers who ran it were arrested and extradited to the United States. One man, Jorge Salcedo, helped considerably with that effort. He was high up in the Cali cartel before he turned against it - risking his life to help U.S. authorities. His story is told in a riveting new book, 'At the Devil's Table: The Untold Story of the Insider Who Brought Down the Cali Cartel,' by former Los Angeles Times investigative reporter and editor William C. Rempel, who joins Madeleine to discuss.
