In this handout image provided by Giffords Campaign - P.K. Weis, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) sits with her mother Gloria Giffords (R) the day after the launch of NASA space shuttle Endeavour and the day before she had her cranioplasty surgery, outside TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital May 17, 2011 in Houston, Texas.
Later today a Republican state senator in Arizona plans to announce that he's formed an exploratory committee to look into a possible run against the seat now held by Democratic Congresswoman Gaby Giffords. Giffords, who's still recuperating from a gunshot wound, hasn't said whether she'll be seeking re-election. For more on this we're joined now by NPR's Ted Robbins with more.
