Prisoner abuse may lead L.A. county supervisors to form a commission that would watch over the department and its behavior
As a scandal over deputies brutalizing inmates in L.A.’s jails widens, county supervisors are expected Tuesday to create an independent oversight commission. The F.B.I. and the U.S. Attorneys' office are already investigating, and there are calls for Sheriff Lee Baca to step down. Most of the complaints have come from the Men’s Central Jail. This week Sheriff Baca invited press inside the jail for a firsthand glimpse.
