The making of "Rampart" - film director Oren Moverman explains

Woody Harrelson in a scene from "Rampart."

Recently, the Los Angeles Police Department has enjoyed a pretty good reputation. Crime rates continue to fall in Los Angeles, and LAPD was largely praised for its handling of Occupy Wall Street protests. While police around the country were ridiculed for excessive force and poorly timed pepper spray, officers in LA negotiated with protestors and avoided marajuana citations. Some officers even went so far as to deliver turkeys to Occupiers on Thanksgiving day.

It's a jarring contrast to the reputation of LAPD back in 1999. Back then, police corruption ran deep.

Oren Moverman’s new film "Rampart" takes us back to that era. It stars Woody Harrelson as bad cop Dave Brown. Moverman joins the show to talk more about the film with Madeleine.
