Stephanie Lazarus was once a heralded officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. She quickly rose through the ranks of the police force, won numerous awards and was commended for her outstanding abilities, sense of humor, and her 'strong moral values.'
Now, Lazarus is charged with the 1986 murder of Sherri Rae Rasmussen. Prosectutors say Lazarus was a jilted lover who sought revenge, and used her knowledge as an officer to cover up the crime.
Christine Pelisek, LA-based crime reporter who wrote about Lazarus for The Daily Beast, talks with Madeleine about the trial.
