The Oscar Award is seen onstage during the 84th Academy Awards announcement held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Melena Ryzik of the New York Times' award season blog "The Carpetbagger" joins the show to update us on the campaign tactics studios are using to try to nab Academy Awards.

Academy members' votes are due just one week from today. That means studios have shifted into full scale promotion mode by running commercials and booking interviews with their star actors and directors.

Oscar front-runner "The Artist" has sent Jean Dujardin dancing with Zooey Deschanel on SNL, while George Clooney and director Alexander Payne have showed up at numerous events to promote Fox Searchlight's under-dog "The Descendants."
