New Music Tuesday with Ann Powers: Sleigh Bells and Sinéad O'Connor
Sinéad O'Connor's newest album, "How About I Be Me (and you be you)?"
Music critic Ann Powers joins the show to discuss two new releases rooted in sorrow.
Sleigh Bells
New York-duo Sleigh Bells release their newest album, "Reign of Terror." It follows their 2010's breakout album "Treats." The album combines the band's trademark noise pop with a bigger production than past albums.
You hear the album streaming in its entirety at New York Times website.
Sinéad O'Connor
"How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?" is Sinéad O'Connor's first first album in five years. O'Connor melds winding melodies with classic hip hop beats. There are tales of love and survival, that reflect tough times in O'Connor's life.
You can listen to the album (and read Ann Powers' full review) at NPR.
