The death penalty may be up for a vote this fall

A coalition called SAFE is fighting the death penalty. Members include legislators who wrote California's original death penalty legislation in the late 70s.

Should California keep the death penalty? The question will go to voters this fall for the first time in 30 years. Supporters of a measure to abolish capital punishment say they've gathered more than enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. The campaign for the initiative is focusing less on moral questions, and more on the costs of capital punishment says The California Report's Krissy Clark.
