Weekend Alibi: 24-hour donuts, Wistaria Festival and Mad Men-inspired LA

Jon Hamm & Co. bring "Mad Men" back to AMC this Sunday

Jon Hamm & Co. bring "Mad Men" back to AMC this Sunday in a 2-hour premiere.

You could spend the weekend watching the clock until the return of AMC's "Mad Men" on Sunday night, or you could watch "The Clock" at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. "The Clock" is a 24-hour video montage of time-related sequences from thousands of movies and TV shows created by artist Christian Marclay.

And if all that art makes you hungry, the arts newsletter, "For Your Art," is setting up a 24-hour "Donut City" across the street from the museum. Every two hours they will be giving out a different donut from one of L.A.'s best donut shops, including Stan's Donuts in Westwood, Donut Man in Glendora and Primo's Donuts in West L.A.

After all that time in the dark, head outside to enjoy the first week of spring. The Wistaria Festival is in full bloom this weekend in Sierra Madre, Calif. The wistaria - or wisteria - vine is known for its beautiful purple blossoms and Sierra Madre is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records to have the largest one in the world. Visitors can take a tour of the property with the giant vine or take in the street fair in downtown Sierra Madre, replete with art, music and food.

Or you could take a tour of L.A.'s rich architectural history through the lens of Mad Men. The show is set in Manhattan, but so much was shot here that the L.A. Conservancy awarded the show a prize for its role in preserving L.A.'s midcentury architectural gems.
