More often than not, the day's news can leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. There's unemployment, political bickering, international conflict. It's easy to get a bit jaded. But there are some stories that have the opposite effect.

This morning we woke up to the news that Cory Booker, the mayor of Newark New Jersey, ran into a burning building late last night to rescue a woman who was trapped inside.

In a press conference today, the Mayor said he was just doing what any neighbor would do: "I didn't feel bravery, I felt terror,'' he said. "It was a moment I felt very religious, let me put it that way.''

Booker was treated for smoke inhalation and second degree burns. He also suffered minor injuries to his hands.
