The Madeleine Brand Show for April 18, 2012
New book by David Rees details the art of pencil sharpening
The new treatise by David Rees on how to sharpen pencils.
Pencils — maybe you haven't given much thought to them. Maybe you just picked one up when you needed it, sharpened it and started writing.
Madeleine talks with a man who's spent a lot of time thinking about pencils. In fact, he's a professional pencil sharpener.
Former political cartoonist David Rees joins the show to share his expertise. He's written a treatise called, "How to Sharpen Pencils."
Rees will be at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books this weekend, as part of a "DIY Revolution" panel. He'll also be appearing alongside Paul F. Tompkins at the Largo at Coronet, for his book release.
Guest:
David Rees, former political cartoonist and lover of #2 pencils.
