Today is the 106th anniversary of the Great Earthquake and Fire in San Francisco. There aren't many survivors left now, but there aren't many Californians unaware of the ever-present threat of a killer quake. Earlier this week in San Diego, UC researchers got to launch an earthquake of their own on a five-story building.
The California Report's Erik Anderson explains how scientists in San Diego are launching simulated earthquakes to study building performance.
