A jobs sign hangs above the entrance to the US Chamber of Commerce building in Washington, DC.

According to the Commerce Department, the nation's economic growth slowed in the first three months of this year.

The GDP, a measure of the nation's output of goods and services, grew at an annual rate of 2.2 percent. That's down from three percent in the last quarter.
