Ken Champiou (left) and John Kobylt (right), of the John & Ken Show fame, do the 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm drive-home broadcast on KFI 640 AM radio in Los Angeles, California.

When you think of AM Talk Radio in Southern California, the first station that usually comes to mind is KFI. It's the most listened to station in the area, with such personalities like Rush Limbaugh, Bill Handel, and John and Ken.

You wouldn't expect local radio talk shows to bring in huge numbers of listeners, but John and Ken have 1.2 million listeners each week — the highest rated local talk show in the country.

John and Ken are not only popular, they're influential off the airwaves. They were instrumental in recalling governor Gray Davis in 2003, and lately they've campaigned against illegal immigrants.

Reporter Ed Leibowitz wrote a profile of the radio duo in this month's edition of Los Angeles Magazine and he talks with Madeleine about the successful team.
