Singer Ricky Martin presents an award onstage during the 11th annual Latin GRAMMY Awards at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Martin has endorsed President Obama's support for same-sex marriage.

President Obama will attend a fundraiser in New York Monday, reaching out to gay and Latino donors. Pop star Ricky Martin, who announced he was gay a couple years ago, will headline the event.

While Martin has applauded President Obama's support for same-sex marriage, views on the topic within the wider Latino community remain mixed.

Those views are shaped in part by portrayals of gay and lesbian characters in pop culture, particularly representations in popular telenovelas and comedy shows on Spanish language TV.

Monica Trasandes, the director of Spanish language media at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), joins the show to discuss representations of homosexuality in Latino culture.
