New York proposes ban on large-size sodas

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is proposing an initiative that would prohibit the sale of soft drinks with high sugar content.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg is proposing a ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks in New York, according to the Associated Press, in the hopes of combating obesity.
Bloomberg's proposal is expected to be announced formally today in a City Hall briefing. 20-ounce soda bottles would be removed off shelves of the city's delis and super-sized soft drinks with high sugar would be eliminated.
