NPR's music critic Ann Powers joins the show to review two new albums.

R. Kelly - Write Me Back

This is R. Kelly's 11th album. According to Ann, it's far different than 'Trapped in the Closet,' and captures '90s R&B, pop and soul.

Jesca Hoop - The House that Jack Built

This is 36-year-old American songstress Jesca Hoop's third album. Critics say she carries a similar sound to Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. Hoop has also had an interesting past, she was a backup singer for Peter Gabriel, and had a job nannying Tom Waits' kids when she was growing up.

Guest:

Ann Powers, NPR music critic who joins Madeleine every other Tuesday to discuss the latest in music.
