Author Daniel Smith finds anxiety in life's mundane moments
Monkey Mind: A Memoir of Anxiety by Daniel Smith
Everyday life can be stressful, but for Daniel Smith even the smallest things can induce a panic attack.
He once felt choosing a sauce for his sandwich was a matter of life and death. In moments like this, Smith sweats so profusely he can soak through multiple layers of clothing.
In his new book, "Monkey Mind: A Memoir of Anxiety," Smith traces his anxiety back to his childhood and looks at the ways it shaped him as an adult. Now, he says, though humor, therapy and lots of mental tricks he is able to keep his fears at bay.
