James Holmes, the 24-year-old suspected of killing 12 people and wounding dozens of others made his first public appearance this morning in a court room in Centennial, Colorado. His hair was dyed orange and he appeared somewhat dazed.
Tom Teves, the father of one Colorado shooting victim, sat in the front row Monday as a judge advised Holmes of the allegations against him. His son Alex Teves was killed in the Friday shooting at a packed screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
Holmes will be formally charged on July 30. He may face the death penalty, although the DA says that decision may be months away.
Megan Verlee from Colorado Public Radio joins the show from the court.
