Starbucks and Square are teaming up to let customers pay without ever opening a wallet.
Starbucks will soon be the first retailer to allow customers to pay for their lattes with Square's mobile payments app. The partnership will allow customers to open a tab and pay with a debit card connected to their phone without ever opening a wallet.
Square is mostly used by small independent retailers and this is the first time a major company is getting on board. Starbucks is investing $25 million in Square, which was founded by Jack Dorsey, who also founded Twitter.
CNET's Dan Ackerman joins the show to discuss why companies are gearing up for the future of mobile payments.
