Erwin McManus leads Mosaic, an evangelical Christian church that’s trying to find a place in the City of Angels. Mosaic is interesting for a number of reasons. First, it’s liberal. Second, it’s really young – the average parishioner is 24. Third, Mosaic meets in a nightclub. Ben visits with Mosaic worshipers as they get the Mayan salsa club ready for Sunday service.

Eddie Pierce

Eddie Pierce is also a believer but his notions of God are a little more complex. Eddie is a gay man working in the gay porn industry. Eddie talks about his notions of god, religion and faith and reminds us that when Jesus was on earth he “didn’t run with the kings and queens… he ran with the hos and pimps.”
Silver Ring Thing

Jordan Pierce is part of the Silver Ring Thing, a group with a “national deployment plan” to bring faith-based pledges of sexual abstinence to teens and young adults all over the country. The 17-year-old tells Sean Cole why she made her pledge to, as she puts it, “stay pure.”

John Cameron Mitchell
