Mosaic Church
[Listen ]
Erwin McManus leads Mosaic, an evangelical Christian church that's trying to find a place in the City of Angels. Mosaic is interesting for a number of reasons. First, it's liberal. Second, it's really young - the average parishioner is 24. Third, Mosaic meets in a nightclub. Ben visits with Mosaic worshipers as they get the Mayan salsa club ready for Sunday service.

Mosaic has 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. service at the club on every Sunday.

Eddie Pierce
[Listen ]
Eddie Pierce is also a believer but his notions of God are a little more complex. Eddie is a gay man working in the porn industry. Eddie talks about his notions of god, religion and faith and reminds us that when Jesus was on earth he "didn't run with the kings and queens... he ran with the hos and pimps."

Silver Ring Thing
[Listen ]
Jordan Pierce is part of the Silver Ring Thing, a group with a "national deployment plan" to bring faith-based pledges of sexual abstinence to teens and young adults all over the country. The 17-year-old tells Sean Cole why she made her pledge to, as she puts it, "stay pure."

The interview is an excerpt from a longer documentary called "With This Ring," which first aired on WBUR's Inside Out.

John Cameron Mitchell
[Listen ]
Filmmaker John Cameron Mitchell is probably best known as the writer, director and star of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. In his new project, a film called Short Bus, John uses sex as a metaphor to explore notions of love, loneliness and sexuality. Ben talks to John about his new film and the confusion Americas appear to be having about sex, sexuality and religion.

Song Break: Love And Happiness
from Al Green's album "I'm Still In Love With You"

Hustler
[Listen ]
Most Angelenos know that Flynt Publications is the headquarters of a magazine empire, the crown jewel of which is Hustler, the men's entertainment magazine. But what some might not know is that under the tenure of executive editor Allan MacDonnel, Flynt Publications has became a proving ground for some of the country's best journalists and writers. Queena spoke with MTV's Aaron Lee, Premier Magazine's Tim Swanson and Rolling Stone's Evan Wright to hear more about their start at Hustler magazine.

Allan MacDonnell
[Listen ]
The former Executive Editor of Hustler Magazine talks to Queena about his 20-year tenure at Flynt Publications and his own unlikely mentor at Hustler.

Cassandra Gonzalez
[Listen ]
Cassandra Gonzalez grew up in Culver City and was incarcerated when she was sixteen-for various reasons... Today she's an activist and a reporter for Youth Radio. Cassandra says all these positive things happened because, about a year into her stay at juvenile hall, she met a woman named Laura Clark.
