The Recession is Over! (But not really)

This morning Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke made international headlines when he was quoted as saying that that the American recession was “very likely over.” The only problem is that Bernanke himself went on to contradict that statement by warning that the economic recovery would be very weak and very slow—and one major lingering problem is the continued instability of the housing market. Is there real reason to feel optimistic on the economy, or is it possible that the worst is yet to come?
