Vali Nasr on the rise of the new Muslim middle class: how capitalism could be the key to political transformation in the Middle East. And Rabbi Harold Kushner explains how to live boldly in an uncertain world
Can capitalism be the key to political transformation in the Middle East? Vali Nasr, author of "The Shia Revival," thinks so and makes his case in his new book, "Forces of Fortune - The Rise of the New Muslim Middle Class and What It Will Mean for Our World."
Are you afraid of losing your job, afraid something bad will happen to someone you love, afraid of death? In his new book, Rabbi Harold Kushner talks about how we can master our fears and really enjoy life.

I appreciate Rabbi Kushner's comment that natural disasters are not from God. In fact the difference between and "act of God" and an "Act of nature" is that in a true "Act of God", God will always give advance warning and instructions for survival, ie: "The Flood of Genesis". An act of nature is random and causes tragedy for both the good and the bad.

I hope I do not sound sarcastic but, How can he know what God knows? I have the same problem with my pastor who tells me what God wants from me. How can anyone say what God wants?

Quit bragging on 'Radio with IQ,' while devoting more time to know-nothing shout-ins. Patt Morrison's deft interviews of really interesting people, the exchanges of the cinema-rati are my idea of intelligent radio. Save money, turn down the volume; rerun, Patt Morrison & Film Week in place of Talk of the Nation at an hour when grown-ups can enjoy them.
