No Child Left Behind: a closer look
By all accounts, President Obama’s budget proposes a “sweeping overhaul” of President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” education law, changing the criteria by which schools are evaluated and striking down the 2014 deadline for bringing every American child up to academic proficiency. Patt gets reaction from teachers’ unions, principals, the LAUSD Superintendent and the Superintendent of California’s Public Education Department.
Guests:
Jack O’Connell, State Superintendent of Public Education
Dean Vogel, vice president of the California Teachers Association; former public school teacher & counselor
Michael Taft, principal, Jefferson High School (he’s relatively new, started in July of ’09)
