Michigan Democrat Lisa Brown was silenced on the floor of Michigan’s State House of Represtatives on June 14, after stating “Finally, Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you’re all so interested in my vagina, but no means no.” The comments were in reference to a series of bills regulating abortion being discussed on the House floor, including a provision that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy unless a woman’s life was in danger.

Rep. Jackie Speier once candidly spoke of her own abortion on the floor of the House of Reprentatives during a debate on federal funding of Planned Parenthood. “I lost a baby. But for you to stand on this floor and to suggest, as you have, that somehow this is a procedure that is either welcomed or done cavalierly or done without any thought is preposterous,” Rep. Speier said on February 2011.
