Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) CEO Sally Jewell climbs the 65-foot rock climbing pinnacle on March 22, 2006 at REI's Seattle flagship store. Jewell has lead the giant outdoor retailer to its first $1 billion year. REI returned $50 million to its co-op members and will give away $4 million to charities, but some say the company has grown beyond its co-op roots.
Today President Obama is expected to nominate Sally Jewell for the post of Interior Secretary.
Jewell is currently the president and CEO of the outdoor and recreational retailer REI. Unlike her predecessor, former Colorado Senator Ken Salazar, Jewell has no political experience.
