Garcia a law school graduate who passed Californiaís bar examination and is living in the United States illegally, is being refused by California State Bar officials to issue him a lawyerís license because of his immigration status. On Sept. 4, the California Supreme Court will hear arguments from the Obama administration, who opposes Garciaís bid to become a lawyer along with the State Bar of California, California Attorney General Kamala Harrisí office, which supports Garcia and from his lawyers.
Today the California Supreme Court will hear the case of Sergio Garcia, an undocumented immigrant who wants to become a lawyer here in California.
The case could set a new precedent in the ongoing conflict between state and federal governments over immigration law. Mr. Garcia, joins the show to talk about his effort.
