No Place Like LA: Ellen does NOT like snow

NO PLACE LIKE L.A. IS OUR SERIES THAT ASKS L.A. TRANSPLANTS AND IMMIGRANTS: "WHEN WAS THE MOMENT YOU FELT THAT LOS ANGELES WAS TRULY HOME?"

THIS IS THE STORY OF Ellen Isaacs from Los Angeles.

I'm from New York originally.

My family moved to Southern California from New York when I was about 7, and it was February.

There was slushy, dirty snow on the runway in New York. My grandparents were all bundled up in coats and gloves and hats and scarves.

They were the ones waving goodbye to us.

And when we arrived at LAX, we picked up a rental car and it was brilliantly sunny outside. The air was crisp and clean when we opened the car windows.

I fell in love with L.A. driving past those palm trees along the exit on Century Boulevard.

I knew I was home.

TELL US YOUR OWN STORY, TOO. IF YOU'RE A TRANSPLANT OR IMMIGRANT, WHAT WAS THE MOMENT WHERE YOU THOUGHT TO YOURSELF, "L.A. FEELS LIKE HOME, NOW?"
