Latinos in Prime Time
Despite the introduction of two Latino shows on cable last year, The Brothers Garcia and Resurrection Blvd., and the
recent premiere of American Family on PBS, Latino culture remains surprisingly underrepresented in prime time, with the
percentage of Hispanic characters dropping from three to two percent between the 1999 and 2000 seasons. Kitty talks about the
phenomenon with co-executive producer of Resurrection Blvd., Jesus Salvadore Trevino, the writer and star of the film Luminarias,
Evelina Fernandez, and the creator of The Brothers Garcia, Jeff Valdez.
Don't Panic!
In 1995 pianist Guy Livingston commissioned 60 composers from around the world to write works of a minute
or less which he plays in his acclaimed program "60 Seconds for Piano." The musician joins Kitty in studio on the
occasion of his performance at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art tonight to highlight local composers featured

Ralph Nader Interviewed by Culver City High Students
Students from Culver City High School gather in studio three to grill their dream politician. Kitty is only too happy to bring
together curious students and the politician they unanimously voted most interesting to meet - Ralph Nader. During the interview,
Nader recommended the book Civics for Democracy: A Journal for Teachers and Students which can be found on the
website Essential Information.

Kitty speaks with journalist and humorist Calvin Trillin about his latest novel, Tepper Isnt Going Out.

Minister Tony Muhammad and The Nation of Islam Conference in LA
For the first time, the Nation of Islams World Saviours Day conference will be held outside of Chicago and, instead, right
here in Los Angeles. Kitty talks with the Western Region representative of the Nation of Islam, Minister Tony Muhammad about why the conference
was moved this year and what the organization has been up to lately, especially here in Southern California. The

Touring the Murals of Los Angeles
A new exhibit at Cal State Dominguez Hills highlights the artistic and cultural value of murals and original art related to murals.
Guest curator Robin Dunitz is the Vice President of the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles and author of
Street Gallery: A Guide to over 1000 Los Angeles Murals and she previews several tours that you can take of
works throughout greater Los Angeles. The exhibit, Walls of Heritage, Walls of Pride, runs through March 6 at the University

New Domestic Partner Law in CA
Assemblywoman Carole Migden joins Kitty for a discussion of AB 25, the new CA law allowing rights and protections to
registered domestic partners. Gwen Baldwin, executive director of the LA Gay and Lesbian Center, previews partnership
registration events here locally. Same Sex Partner Registration is Saturday,

Camelias at the Huntington
This weekend the Huntington Gardens will host the 30th Annual Camellia Show. Kitty Felde speaks with the curator
of the Asian gardens and camellia expert Ann Richardson about the history and varieties of this prized flower.
