Fallujah Update (Listen)
A week after the attack on Fallujah commenced, Kitty gets an on-the-ground report from Bobby Ghosh, Time magazine's senior Baghdad correspondent. Over the weekend, a U.S. Marine came under investigation for allegedly shooting an injured, unarmed "enemy combatant" in a Fallujah mosque. And today, Al-Jazeera television received a videotape showing the killing of a woman believed to be director of CARE International in Iraq, Margaret Hassan. She had been held hostage since Oct. 19.

King/ Drew Medical Center Public Hearing (Listen)
Yesterday over 1000 people protested as a public hearing held by the LA County Board of Supervisors was underway in Willowbrook. The Supervisors want to close down the trauma unit in an act to save the rest of the hospital, but that would result in longer travel times for re-routed trauma victims, precisely the patients with no time to spare. KPCC's health care reporter John Rabe was present.

Contemporary classic The Polar Express comes to the big screen (Listen)
A magical train ride on Christmas Eve whisks a boy to the North Pole to receive a special gift from Santa. And now Chris Van Allsburg's award winning book, The Polar Express (Houghton Mifflin), has been transformed into a motion picture using stage acting, motion-capture, and computer graphics, radically blurring the line between live action and animation. Kitty meets the author.

The Polar Express movie opens in theaters nationwide November 10. Mr. Van Allsburg has a book signing this evening at Dutton's Books in Beverly Hills at 5:00 pm.

Ask the Chief (Listen)
LAPD Chief William Bratton joins host Kitty Felde for their monthly discussion on policing Los Angeles. This month they discuss why African Americans overwhelmingly voted against measure A, the sales tax increase that would have funded additional police officers. Also, a new suspect has been arrested in the slaying of 14-year old Byron Lee, Jr., and the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police has brought more than 15,000 law enforcement officers to Los Angeles. Kitty gets the latest.

Los Angeles Times Film Critic Kenneth Turan (Listen)
Today, ticket sales in the first week of screenings can make or break a film's financial success, and by the time you want to see a film, it may have already been closed. Los Angeles Times film reviewer Kenneth Turan knows all too well the business of movies, and through his new book, Never Coming To A Theater Near You: A Celebration of a certain kind of movie (PublicAffairs), he encourages giving overlooked films another chance.

Franklin Graham (Listen)
Franklin Graham, son of preacher man Billy Graham, is in town for the Billy Graham Crusade, which will take place at the Pasadena Rose Bowl this weekend. Franklin, who serves as president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization, is also an evangelist; he delivered the invocation at President Bush's inauguration. Kitty finds out his ideas about the future of the Ministry, "morals and values" in politics and interacting with people of other faiths.

The Billy Graham Crusade will take place at the Pasadena Rose Bowl November 18-21. The event is free, and no tickets are necessary. Seating is first come, first served.

BROADCASTING LIVE FROM SACRAMENTO (Listen)
The First Year

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's freshman year has come to a close. Kitty sits down with Sacramento Bee columnist Dan Walters to discuss the governor’s accomplishments and identify the tasks left undone.

Negotiating with the Governor (Listen)
Kitty Felde evaluates the governor’s relationship with the state legislature by talking with two veteran Sacramento lawmakers: State Senator Roy Ashburn, a Republican representing the 18th district, which includes Kern, Tulare, Inyo and San Bernardino counties; and State Assemblyman Joseph Canciamilla, a Democrat representing the 11th district, which covers much of Contra Costa County.

The Power of the Lobbyists (Listen)
From the start, Governor Schwarzenegger promised not to be influenced by special interests, yet he has clearly aligned himself with the chamber of commerce and a pro-business agenda. Kitty explores Schwarzenegger’s relationship with lobbyists with guests Allan Zaremberg, President and CEO of the California Chamber of Commerce, and J.J. Jelincic, President of the California State Employees Association.

A Celebrity for Governor: How Sacramento has Changed (Listen)
The Christmas tree lighting ceremony used to be no big deal; now it is the hot ticket of the season, with VIP seating and Entertainment Tonight's Mary Hart as celebrity emcee. Outsiders ask, "Have you seen him?", but locals don’t feel that the town has changed all that much, aside from the occasional sighting of Arnold or one of his pals. Kitty talks to J. Freedom Du Lac, writer of weekly Media Savvy column that appears in the Lifestyles section in the Sacramento Bee.
