Doug Johnson has been with KPCC since 1983 but was hired as a part-time studio engineer while taking broadcasts classes at Pasadena City College in 1979.
Over the years he has been involved in every major radio station advancement including the transition to satellite-based program distribution from National Public Radio, the relocation of KPCC’s transmitters to Mt. Wilson and the complete upgrade to an all digital broadcast facility. Most recently he was one of the lead project managers for the new broadcast center in downtown Pasadena with direct responsibility for the entire technical plant.
Johnson earned two broadcast certificates of achievement in both engineering and production from Pasadena City College before earning his AB from Long Beach State College in Broadcast Journalism. He was awarded a lifetime First Class Radio/Telephone operators permit from the Federal Communication Commission.
For the past 22 years he has held an adjunct professor position at PCC instructing in the Television / Radio Department including the creation of the student run on-line radio service, Lancer Radio.
