A Santa Ana woman accused of having sex with her daughter’s 16-year-old boyfriend -- and having a baby by him -- is scheduled to be arraigned this morning.

The unnamed teenager that police are calling the victim is half the age of 32-year-old Mayra Gonzalez, who nevertheless told police she was besotted with the boy.

Reports indicate the affair took place in the teenager’s house while his parents were away. Gonzalez is accused of having a sexual relationship with him from mid- to late-2011 and faces six counts of felony sexual intercourse with a minor and two counts of oral copulation with a minor, according to the L.A. Times. She could get nearly eight years in prison if convicted and have to register as a sex offender.

The ongoing trysts, which Gonzalez admits to, apparently resulted in a healthy baby born recently, according to several reports. NBC quotes Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department as saying that “Statements indicate the child was born of the relationship with the 16-year-old victim.”

“She’s been extremely cooperative,” Bertagna said. Though Gonzalez knew it was wrong, “She is of the opinion she’s in love with this individual,” he said.

Gonzalez was set to be arraigned at the Santa Ana Central Jail at 10 a.m.
