The body of a man dressed in lingerie was found mutilated and stabbed to death near the Beverly Center this weekend, and police say they have a suspect in custody.

The body, described only as that of a 27-year-old Asian man wearing women’s lingerie, was found in the middle of the street on the 300 block of Orlando Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, KTLA reports. Neighbors who called police to the scene reportedly heard yelling and arguing prior to finding the body, which had been stabbed multiple times.

In a statement, the LAPD said that “Detectives believe the victim was involved in a dispute with the suspect which resulted with the suspect stabbing the victim to death.”

Although they haven’t released more specifics, investigators believe the killer was Richard Herrera, 29, of Los Angeles. Herrera was tracked down and arrested in East L.A. over the weekend.

Police say the victim and Herrera did not live in the neighborhood where the body was found.

Anonymous comments on a neighborhood blog indicate that the alleged killer and victim were friends who knew each other since high school.
