A Compton rapper facing burglary charges cold chopped off his GPS tracker, skipped a court appearance and drove away in his blue Maserati, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say 29-year-old Perry Pemberton, a.k.a. “KP Dolla,” was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in a Van Nuys courtroom on May 25 when he “walked away during a recess break,” cut off the ankle bracelet authorities used to keep tabs on him and apparently skipped town in his expensive sports car.

He is now on the lam, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Pemberton is described as a violent convicted felon, a registered sex offender, a member of the Grape Street Crips and a serial burglar. He was arrested in October of last year and faced multiple burglary charges for thefts in Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Valencia, Burbank and Bel Air, police said.

At the time his bail was set at more than $1 million, but was later reduced to $500,000, which he somehow posted.

Police described Pemberton’s car as a blue 2006 Maserati with license plate No. 6PIX577. They say he “frequents rap music studios” and was active in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Santa Barbara counties. Anyone with knowledge of Pemberton’s whereabouts is asked to call West Valley Area police detectives at (818) 374-7730.

(In their statement, police incorrectly gave Pemberton’s stage name as “KP Money.” As the L.A. Weekly notes, it’s KP Dolla.)
