Man trying to stop graffiti at Los Angeles church shot to death

Los Angeles police are searching Monday morning for a whomever shot and killed a man who was trying to stop a vandal who was scrawling graffiti at a church.

A second man was also wounded and is hospitalized in stable condition.

The shooting occurred Sunday night at a storefront chruch in Filipinotown. The two men were challenging the vandal when they were shot. The man who died was in his 20s; the second man is in his 40s, police said.

KABC reports that while the two churchgoers were talking to the vandal, a second person came up from behind and open fired.

The church is located near the intersection of  Beverly Boulevard and Reno Street.
