Minivan crash kills 3, injures 6 in Redlands

Authorities in Redlands are trying to find out what caused a deadly head-on collision this morning between two vehicles in a residential area.

Redlands city spokesman Carl Baker said the accident occurred around 9:30a.m. on Orange Street, near Pioneer Avenue.

“A minivan carrying eight people and a commercial van with one person – the driver—collided head on,” explained Baker.  “Three people in the minivan were dead on the scene, two men and a woman. And then six other people, including the driver of the other van, were transported to local hospitals with major injuries.”

Police have yet to release the victims' identities.

Orange Street between Pioneer Avenue and 5th Street will remain closed for the next several hours as coroners and detectives continue their investigation.
