Train takes out dump truck on the tracks; at least 12 injured in Metrolink crash

Authorities say a Metrolink commuter train has collided with a dump truck in Los Angeles, causing 13 minor injuries.

Fire Department spokesman Shawn Lenske says nine of 190 passengers on the train were taken to the hospital Saturday for treatment.

The truck driver was treated and released at the scene.

Metrolink spokesman Jeff Lustgarten said the truck was on the tracks when the collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. in Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley. The impact of the crash caused the truck to overturn.

He said the wreck was under investigation.
