New London Fire: "Happiness Through Radios and Wires"

Sharing with you today a pick from the Studio G mailbag in the Mohn Broadcast Center. I received a CD from an Indie band out of New Jersey called New London Fire.  Yes, lots of music comes my way and I'm not here to be a music reviewer.  What caught my ear on this band's new CD was that sense of pulling out some remnants of radio oldies that we all grew up listening to.  Like one reviewer put it, "...a handful of rock acts are reminding us just what it is that made us fall in love with the radio so long ago."

The band's four-years-in-the-making of this new album, Happiness Through Radios and Wires is the sound of a modern band looking within itself and pulling out those traces of oldies radio. I sensed this group was showing some respect for what I'm doing involved in radio and I wanted to return the mutual respect and thank this group for sending their CD to the KPCC production department. On this album you'll catch some style of Beach Boys, do wop and Motown sounds.   You know progress is meaningless if it loses track of its past. True progress builds on tradition, reworks it, re-imagines it and carries its legacy proudly forward along with it. New London Fire is doing just that.  http://NewLondonFire.com
